The gardens of Shoute House by Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe
Dorset,UK
Jellicoe designed the garden in the late sixties for Captain Micheal and Lady Anne Tree, with the intent of creating a serene and tranquil place. The English styled garden consist of a narrow channel water feature (figure 2) among a variety of vegetation, the style almost resembles Persian gardens but with a very English garden character. As well as the channel the garden has a a water cascade with a fountain with a very interesting feature; copper chambers that emit musical notes thanks to the flowing water.
Other similarities and inspirations were taken by the gardens of Rousham in Oxfordshire, particularly the type of Vegetation, therefore its colour palette.
This garden and the philosophy behind it pushes me to appreciate other pieces of arts, gardens, Urban places and landscapes and draw inspiration from them, applying it to my own ideas with a touch of personality.
