landscape theory- Mnemonic
Taken from the Greek work ''mnemonikos'' which means '' of or pertaining to memory'', the landscape theory glossary describes the term as '' patterns, letters or ideas that assist in memory'' in other words, associating familiar names in order to memorize another chosen name.
I often find myself using this technique, I can imagine that this phenomenon is very common in human behaviour and it was probably a very natural thing to do. It's just another reflection of us seeking familiarity from the unknown. I found myself ''mnemoniking'' lately during plant ID.
It is a very helpful tool that can be used to improve our memory. The funny thing is that I didn't know there was a name to describe this phenomena, just like a lot of words in the glossary describing thinking patterns and behavioural patterns. It's interesting to learn about the interconnection about philosophy and design and how concepts, ideas and emotions about art and design have been into existence for so long, concepts that seems like they just linger in us and we just have to find out about them.
I found myself really enjoying reading that glossary, although there was a lot of concepts and words that were hard to grasp for me due to my limited knowledge in the field, I am excited to immerge myself in the world of meanings, questions and answers...
