Piet Oufolds magical gardens in Somerset,Uk
The site consists in three spaces; the farmyard, the cloister gardens and a perennial meadow made of 26,000 herbaceous plants nearby the museum. The gardens are dominated by the soft material with no hard material in sight or woody plants.
At first glance, I adore these gardens with no doubt; Oudolf exploration of spatial relationship through planting creating different colour palettes and texture is aesthetically pleasing and recall tranquility and elegance. They require however continous maintance, which suggests that it is something very important to take into consideration when designing an effective and realistic planting plan depending on the type of site a landscape architect is working with.
