Precedent/inspiration-alney island
Tebet Eco Garden is planned for Jakarta, Indonesia by Studio Sae, it's a seven hectares blue-green public park and an exemplar case study for Alney Island. The aim for the site was to reduce flooding, improve the current pedestrian connections and overall introduce a community-focused park alongside restoring the ecological habitat that has been damaged due to flooding and poor soil conditions.
The deliverables to solve flooding issues are very focused and inspiring; individual existing trees are surveyed which means that unhealthy trees get upcycled and reused for design elements such as street and playground furniture or habitat logs.
They also deal with a polluted river and implementation of the river, just like we have to for Alney, re-neutralized through vegetation such as rain gardens and natural embankments.
Strategies for the community include picnic areas, visitor centers, numerous play areas, and edible gardens.
There are a few examples on how to build a resilient, vibrant wetland park and this one really helped me to move forward and develop my Alney Island concept. Including for areas such as the visual compositions, where they put annotation on the pictures, I think this can be more affective than a lenghty caption as it allows you to visualize and easily identify the element.
