Mineral roof garden by Robert Burle Max
Sao Paolo,Brazil
The outstanding, revolutionary work of Robert Burle Max are true pieces of living art. Inspired by modernism, Burle transformed landscape architecture and design by incorporating abstraction and vegetation together to create recreational landscapes.
His most famous works include the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro and the expansive rooftop garden in Sao Paolo, shown as above. The brown and warm colour palette is immaculate and adequate for the city; you can envision and feel the pleasant sun and the freshness of the shade under the trees that have been strategically planted. His distinctive design and colour choice almost reminds me Picasso's style , showing that Burle's vision and design process was the same as creating a painting or a drawing, he stated in fact that ' I hate the idea that landscape architects should only know about plants'' believing and treating the discipline as an art.
I absolute adore this concept, mainly because I am very fond of the visual arts; painting and drawing are a vehicle to express myself and I am inspired by the similar approach that Burle used throughout his life.
